Co-Lapses: Generative Void

FORM WITHOUT FORM《大象無形》

A Contemporary Dialogue between Ink, Form and the Invisibles.

13 June – 5 July 2026K6 Space, HKRI Taikoo Hui, Shanghai

Inspired by Laozi's concept of 大象無形 ("The Great Form is Formless"), FORM WITHOUT FORM brought together international contemporary artists in an exhibition exploring perception, transformation and the relationship between the visible and invisible.

Curated by Carlo Maria Rossi, Tiffany GT and Vivien Lee, and centred on the work of Professor Joseph Tham, the exhibition was presented by Triune Harmony, NONAME STUDIO and 768 Gallery in partnership with HKRI Taikoo Hui and Arte Laguna Prize. Bringing together artists from China, New Zealand, Spain, Italy, Taiwan, Poland and France, the exhibition created a dialogue between contemporary artistic practice and Laozi's proposition that "the greatest form is without shape."

Barnes presented CO-Lapses: Generative Void, a site-responsive iteration of the ongoing CO-Lapses installation series. Inspired by biomimicry and geological processes, suspended vessels gradually released coloured sands throughout the exhibition, creating an evolving landscape shaped by gravity, time and accumulation. The work embraced impermanence, allowing transformation to unfold as the primary medium rather than presenting a fixed sculptural form.

In conjunction with the exhibition, Barnes was appointed Arte Laguna Prize Ambassador 2026, representing the internationally recognised contemporary art prize while strengthening cultural exchange and professional relationships between artists, institutions and audiences.
